Action Grants Overview

Neighbor Up Action Grants fuel the power of neighbors to make the change they want to see in their communities. Grants range from $500 to $5,000, and are meant to spur small, grassroots community projects throughout Cleveland and East Cleveland.

Grants may be used for a wide variety of projects, and groups are encouraged to think in new ways about what will work in their communities and with whom they might partner. Grant applications are accepted twice a year; on the second Monday of February and August by 11:59 p.m.

You will be notified of the decisions by email, and will be invited to a meeting to better prepare your team for receiving, spending, and reporting on your grant.

Applications will be reviewed, interviews held, and funding decisions made by a committee of Cleveland and East Cleveland residents.

Our next grant deadline is Monday, February 12th at 11:59PM.

Grant Making Committee

There are about 20 members on the Grant Making Committee, all residents of Cleveland and East Cleveland. They are chosen to represent diverse neighborhoods, skills and knowledge, and each is appointed to a three-year term. If a committee member resigns before their term is completed, they are replaced by an alternate. Members can serve up to two terms.

New members are always welcome. Every fall, we ask for nominations. If you know someone you’d like to nominate, please send an email to info@neighborhoodgrants.org or submit your nomination using this form.

Those selected will first serve as alternates, and then as full members of the committee.

Everyone who serves on the Grant Making Committee signs a conflict-of-interest statement. Committee members may not review applications from groups that they or their family members are involved with.
