Virtual Spaces
Until 2020, all of our work was done in person. With the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing for health and safety, we adapted many of our community building practices for use in the virtual environment.
It was a traumatic experience that we are all still recovering from.
In processing that experience, we have discovered new complexity around the digital divide, and the kind of privilege that must exist to being able to participate in a monthly in-person gathering, especially during the workday.
Virtual community building practices have allowed participants more chances to access when where and how thy can connect to get good information and support on everything from self care and public health advice to grant funding.
With the recent move to new office on E. 66th Street that can comfortably accommodate in-person events, we are committed to continuing to offer virtual opportunities as long as they are of interest and value to the Neighbor Up Network.
