NeighborsConnect!

PILOT OVERVIEW

Neighborhood Safety Through Neighborhood Power.

The NeighborsConnect! pilot project will test a community-driven, block-level approach to neighborhood safety by supporting street blocks organizing themselves, distributing and installing Ring Cameras, and building collaborative relationships with law enforcement.

Background

Residents and organizations in Greater Buckeye requested that some of the funding from the recent Federal Byrne Grant be used to purchase Ring Cameras that residents could install in their homes. As a result, 166 Ring Cameras with a one-year basic subscription included for video, alerts, and other features have been secured by the Cleveland Department of Public Safety for distribution in Greater Buckeye. The cameras will not be connected to the police department.

The Unify Greater Buckeye Network, coordinated by Neighborhood Connections and NP3: Nurturing People. Power. Place. has been delegated to manage the distribution of the cameras, in collaboration with City of Cleveland Community Relations Board.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Anyone who lives in one of the zones in the image below is eligible to apply with fellow neighbors from the same block. You need 50% of your neighbors on your block to agree to apply with you.

There is an allotment of 10 cameras for the first block to apply from each of the 16 neighborhood zones.

Depending on level of interest, we plan to seek additional resources to make additional cameras available.

STEPS TO APPLY

1) Recruit at least 50% of the neighbors on your block

2) Decide together where to install 10 Ring Doorbell Cameras & submit your application

3) Meet with community resources to discuss neighborhood safety
