Neighbor Nights Work!
I was at the Greater Buckeye Neighbor Night this past Monday night. Here's what I heard has happened in the last two months as a direct result of this monthly gathering: Personal Support: I heard numerous stories of people who received help from attending. This past Monday night, one person said his oven had been out for over two months and he couldn't find a repair person to come fix it. Another person at the gathering gave him the number of a friend of hers, and the repair person came Tuesday and fixed the oven in thirty minutes. The Neighbor Up Action Grant Committee funded sixty-six (66) grassroots organizations and associations this fall, disbursing $254,000.
Spring 2024 Neighbor Up Action Grant Recipients
The Neighbor Up Action Grant Committee funded 121 grassroots initiatives in the spring of 2024 totaling $385,614. For a list with descriptions of each organization funded, click here. Reclaiming Public Space in Cleveland
Over the past year, the Reclaim Cleveland team has traveled around the city to collect stories of grassroots leaders making a difference in their communities through the power of reclaiming green space, vacant land, and public spaces. These interviews were compiled and made into a series of episodes called The Green Couch Project. The mission of this project is to create shared space for grass-roots organizations to have the power & a voice to advocate & reclaim public space/land in Cleveland. Neighbor Up Spotlight is a podcast telling the stories of unsung heroes in Cleveland. Created, hosted and produced by Cleveland resident and Neighbor Up member Carol Malone, the podcast focuses on members of Neighbor Up, a network of about 3,000 Greater Cleveland residents making positive change in their neighborhoods.
